1. What are Layouts?

Layouts are complete designs for your social networking profile that include a Background image and matching design elements. In the case of MySpace, these design elements include a matching Extended Network Banner and a matching Contact Table. At other social networking websites, these design elements include tables or other "boxes" on your profile in which your friends post comments or in which your photos and videos are showcased. When you download a Layout to your social networking profile, it is a complete and matching design, with text colors, table colors, border colors, banners or contact tables that all match each other and that complement the background image.

So you're aware, a Background image ' as its name implies ' is the picture you see in the Background of your social networking profile. An Extended Network Banner - in the case of MySpace - is the rectangular box to the top right of your MySpace profile that features a matching image and/or text that complements the Background picture. Finally, in the case of MySpace, the Contact Table (or Contact Box as some people call it) is the box immediately underneath your main profile picture that contains links inside such as 'Message', 'Friends', 'Chat Now', etc. This box (and the links inside) is an important way for your MySpace friends to contact you.

Again, as we mentioned before, the term 'Layouts' refers to a complete social networking profile page design with elements that all match and compliment each other.

2. What are Backgrounds?

Backgrounds are simply background pictures that you post at your social networking profile. They do NOT come accompanied with an Extended Network Banner or a Contact Table, as is the case with MySpace Layouts. They also do not come with matching table colors, matching border colors or matching font colors at other social networking profiles. Instead, they are simply background pictures or images that you 'and people visiting your profile ' can enjoy.

In this case, virtually every social networking profile on the Internet today, including the ones for which we offer designs (MySpace, MyYearBook, Xanga, Friendster and Virb), accept code ' and let you feature ' Backgrounds at your profile.

Backgrounds come in many forms and varieties. They can feature real life pictures of animals, cars, celebrities, movies, TV shows, fire, flowers and more, or they can feature illustrations such as polka dots, stripes, stars, cartoons, tie dyed artwork, even abstract artwork. They can consist of one image that is framed on either side, or they can feature many images that are tiled repeatedly across the entire Background of your profile. SpaceGravy offers thousands of Backgrounds and today, they can be used across MySpace, Xanga, MyYearBook, Xanga and Virb. In the coming months, we will offer Backgrounds and other graphics for a majority of the top 20 social networking websites on the Internet today.

As a sidenote ' and in the case of MySpace only ' you can mix and match the Backgrounds we offer with the Contact Tables and Banners we offer. You don't have to download a complete Layout with a matching Extended Network Banner or Contact Box. You can mix and match the Backgrounds we offer with different Banners or Contact Tables, depending on your preference. Social networking customization is a beautiful thing. It allows you the opportunity to express yourself in your own individual way. 3. What are Contact Tables?

Contact Tables (or Contact Boxes) are usable only at MySpace. They are a small box, located immediately beneath your main MySpace profile picture ' or your friend's main MySpace profile picture ' with links inside that allow your friends to contact you, or to interact with and/or contact other users of MySpace.

MySpace Layouts come complete with a matching Contact Table ' MySpace Backgrounds, however, do not. You can choose to download a MySpace Layout with a matching Contact Table already provided, or you can choose to download a MySpace Background and then mix and match another Contact Table, if you want. Again, social networking customization is all about you. The beauty is that you can customize your profile any way you'd like, to express who you are and what your interests are.

4. What are Extended Network Banners?

Extended Network Banners are usable only at MySpace. They are a rectangular box to the top right of your MySpace profile that feature a picture, illustration and/or text. They're simply a complementary design accent to the Background picture you post at your MySpace page.

MySpace Layouts come complete with a matching Extended Network Banner ' MySpace Backgrounds, however, do not. You can choose to download a MySpace Layout with a matching Banner already provided, or you can choose to download a MySpace Background and then mix and match another Banner, if you want. Again, social networking customization is all about you. The beauty is that you can customize your profile any way you'd like, to express who you are and what your interests are.

8. How do I decorate my MySpace page?

Downloading Layouts and Backgrounds to MySpace

1. Go to the MySpace section of SpaceGravy and select the Layout or Background design you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it. Then, click on the image once again to see what it will look like ' in its entirety ' at your MySpace page.

2. Once you've found the design you like the best, click on the 'Click Here to Copy Code' button next to that design. The HTML code for that design will be automatically copied to your computer's clipboard, even though you can't see it.

3. Log onto your MySpace account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'Edit Profile' link at the top of your MySpace page, to the right of your main profile picture.

4. Inside the 'About Me' field (following any text you may have already entered into that field), paste the code by clicking your cursor inside the field, and then press the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). Be sure to click 'Save All Changes' when you're done.

5. If asked, enter the security code that appears on the screen by typing in the letters exactly as you see them. This is a new security measure MySpace has implemented at its website.

6. When you're finished, simply click on the 'Preview Profile' link in your MySpace account to view your finished profile.

Downloading Glitter, Graphics and Extras to MySpace

1. Go to the MySpace section of SpaceGravy and select the Glitter or Graphic you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it, so you can see what it will look like at your MySpace page. In the case of Extras, create your custom graphic using our Flash Widgets and Generators until you have your design exactly the way you want it.

2. Once you've found the design you like the best ' or once you've created that perfect custom design using our Flash Widgets and Generators - click on the 'Click Here to Copy Code' button next to that design. The HTML code for that design will be automatically copied to your computer's clipboard, even though you can't see it.

3. Log onto your MySpace account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'Edit Profile' link at the top of your MySpace page, to the right of your main profile picture.

4. Inside the 'About Me' field or any open text field on that page, for that matter (following any text you may have already entered into that field), paste the code by clicking your cursor inside the field, then press the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). Be sure to click 'Save All Changes' when you're done.

5. If asked, enter the security code that appears on the screen by typing in the letters exactly as you see them. This is a new security measure MySpace has implemented at its website. If you are not asked to enter a security code, proceed to step number 6 below.

6. When you're finished, simply click on the 'Preview Profile' link in your MySpace account to view your finished profile.

7. You can also post glitter, graphics and extras at your friends' profiles by following steps 1 ' 2 above and, once you're logged into your MySpace account, by clicking on the 'Add' link at the top of your friend's Comments section and pasting the code into the text field that appears. Be sure to preview your comment before you post it.

9. How do I decorate my Xanga page?

Downloading Layouts or Backgrounds to Xanga

1. Go to the Xanga section of SpaceGravy and select the Layout or the Background design you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it. Then, click on the image once again to see what it will look like ' in its entirety ' at your Xanga page.

3. Log onto your Xanga account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'Public Preview' link at the top of the page. Then click on the 'Edit Theme' link at the top of the page, to the right of the 'Your Site' link.

4. Click on the CSS link below that, to the left, and paste the Background code in the box underneath the Custom CSS header by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). If you already have Custom CSS code within that box, be sure to delete the code before pasting new code.

5. Be sure to click the 'Save' button to the left of the page to save your changes.

6. Finally, click on the 'Your Site' link at the top left of the page to see what your Xanga profile looks like with its new design.

Downloading Glitter, Graphics and Extras to Xanga

1. Go to the Xanga section of SpaceGravy and select the Glitter or Graphic you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it, so you can see what it will look like at your Xanga page. In the case of Extras, create your custom graphic using our Flash Widgets and Generators until you have your design exactly the way you want it.

3. Log onto your Xanga account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'New Blog Entry' link at the top left of the page.

4. Click on the 'Edit HTML' box to the top right of the main content box on the Weblog Entry page and then paste the design in the main content box by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste).

5. Be sure to click on the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom of the page.

6. When you're finished, simply click on the 'Public Preview' link at the top of the page to see what your Xanga profile looks like to your friends.

10. How do I decorate my MyYearBook page?

Downloading Layouts and Backgrounds to MyYearBook

1. Go to the MyYearBook section of SpaceGravy and select the Layout or the Background design you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it. Then, click on the image once again to see what it will look like ' in its entirety ' at your MyYearBook page.

3. Log onto your MyYearBook account by entering your user name and password and then click on the 'Edit Profile' link below the 'My Quote' box under the main picture of your profile.

4. Click on the 'Customize Design' link at the top of the page, underneath the 'Edit Profile' header.

5. In the blue box at the very top of the page, click on the 'Edit CSS' button. Paste the code into the box in the middle of the page by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). If you already have code within that box, be sure to delete the code before pasting new code.

6. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

7. If you want to make your tables transparent so you can see the entire background design clearly, click on the 'Customize Profile' link below your main profile picture.

8. Click on the 'Sections' link and/or the 'Inner Background' link at the top and put a checkmark inside the box/boxes next to the words 'Transparent'. Be sure to click on the 'Save' button to save your changes.

Downloading Glitter, Graphics and Extras to MyYearBook

1. Go to the MyYearBook section of SpaceGravy and select the Glitter or Graphic you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it, so you can see what it will look like at your Xanga page. In the case of Extras, create your custom graphic using our Flash Widgets and Generators until you have your design exactly the way you want it.

3. Log onto your MyYearBook account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'Edit Profile' link below the 'My Quote' box under the main picture of your profile.

4. Click on the 'Whatever I Want' link at the top of that page, to the right of the 'Customize Design' link. In the main content box, paste the design code by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste).

5. Be sure to click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page.

11. How do I decorate my Virb page?

1. Go to the Virb section of SpaceGravy and select the Layout or Background design you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it. Then, click on the image once again to see what it will look like ' in its entirety ' at your Virb page.

3. Log onto your Virb account by entering your user name and password and then click on the 'Customize' link at the top of the page.

4. Paste the Layout or Background code into the CSS Styles box in the middle of the page by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). If you already have code within that box, be sure to delete the code before pasting new code.

5. Click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom right of the page to save your changes.

6. Click on the small 'View Your Profile' link at the top right hand side of the page to see what your Layout or Background design looks like.

Downloading Glitter, Graphics and Extras to Virb

1. Go to the Virb section of SpaceGravy and select the Glitter or Graphic you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it, so you can see what it will look like at your Virb page. In the case of Extras, create your custom graphic using our Flash Widgets and Generators until you have your design exactly the way you want it.

3. Log onto your Virb account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'View Your Profile' link at the top right hand side of the screen.

4. Click on the 'Add your Comment' link at the top of your Comments section. Inside the text box, paste the design code by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). Then click on the 'Add Comment' button to paste the graphic.

5. Your design will post automatically to your Virb profile page.

12. How do I decorate my Friendster page?

Downloading Layouts and Backgrounds to Friendster

1. Go to the Friendster section of SpaceGravy and select the Layout or Background design you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it. Then, click on the image once again to see what it will look like ' in its entirety ' at your Friendster page.

3. Log onto your Friendster account by entering your user name and password and click on the 'My Profile' link at the top of the page. Scroll down and highlight the 'Edit Profile' profile link to select it.

4. Scroll down and paste the code into the text box located in the Advanced Customization/Customize CSS section by clicking your cursor inside that box and pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard, followed by the 'V' key (to paste). If you already have code in that box, be sure to delete it before pasting the new code.

5.Click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to save your changes. Then click on the 'View your Profile' link at the top of the page to see what your Friendster profile looks like.

6. If you'd like to make your tables transparent so you can see the entire background image, follow step 3 above. Then scroll down to the Advanced Customization/Customize CSS section of the Customize Profile page and click on the 'Customize with CSS editor' link.

7. On the Michael's Profile editor page that pops open, scroll about mid-way down the page (leaving all fields left untouched) and click the 'Make All Boxes Transparent' box in the 'Master Boxes & Headers' section.

8. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Michael's Profile editor page and click on the 'Generate Friendster Code' button. Copy the code that appears in the text box by selecting 'Ctrl' C on your computer keyboard.

9. Go back to the Friendster Customize profile page and in the Customization/Customize CSS Text Box, paste the code by selecting 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key to paste.

10. Then follow steps 1, 2 and 4 above. Paste the SpaceGravy.com background code IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING the Michael's Profile editor code that enables transparent tables (do not delete this code). Be sure to hit return after the Michael's Profile editor code before you paste the SpaceGravy background code to avoid overwriting it.

11. Click on the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to save your changes. Then click on the 'View your Profile' link at the top of the page to see what your Friendster profile looks like.

Downloading Glitter, Graphics and Extras to Friendster

1. Go to the Friendster section of SpaceGravy and select the Glitter or Graphic you like the best by choosing a category and a design within that category. Click on the design to expand it, so you can see what it will look like at your Friendster page. In the case of Extras, create your custom graphic using our Flash Widgets and Generators until you have your design exactly the way you want it.

4. Scroll down the page and in the 'About Me' text field, paste the design code by pressing the 'Ctrl' key on your computer keyboard followed by the 'V' key (to paste). You can also add a different graphic in the 'Describe Who You Want to Meet' text field immediately below.

5. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to save your changes. Then click on the 'View your profile now' link at the top of the page to see your Friendster graphics.
